Only after adding the last command, I see the problem. The problem is that you are redefining the PATH variable where bash looks into to find the binary files if you don't use a complete path when calling. If you don't know what the PATH variable is for you can look at wikipedia's article. Pick a different variable name for your script and you'll be fine. Use a different variable name than PATH. You are using the PATH that is special and used to locate the commands and that is why ls can't be resolved.

Use any name other than PATH. Running the script in a Linux environment was causing the 'command not found' error to be thrown. Learn more. Asked 9 years, 6 months ago. Active 9 months ago. Viewed 21k times. What am I doing wrongly?

Uppercase is reserved for system variables; using lower case ensures that you won't accidentally clobber some other system variable with the next variable name you try.

But how do you know if you are on track, on time, or way behind schedule? You also get some statistics, such as an expected time of arrival ETAwhich is great. Starting a command from the terminal window can sometimes feel like a long-haul flight without a video screen. You have nothing to give any indication if all is well or if the process has hung, nor how close to completion it is. The pv and progress commands give you some statistics and a little visual feedback.

You can see how close the process is to complete. That means you get an ETA for your running processes. Compared with staring at a cursor, that wins hands down.

The archive is extracted -x and the directory is changed -C to Documents before the extraction. So, the files and folders that are in help-files are copied to the Documents folder, with a progress display. We do not get an ETA. The progress bar now displays a moving indicator. Copying files with pv and tar does not leave us with an archive file. If our objective is to copy files, that is accomplished.

But what if we want to create an archive file? The options used with tar are -c create archive-z compress with gzip and -f filename of the archive. The actual name of the archive is going to be the filename that we pipe the output from pv into. There are a number of options you can use with pv to change the details of its report. If you use any of these options, all of the other options are turned off. So if you want to have three of the display options in use, then you need to specify those three options.

This turns off all of the other display options. There is no percentage figure. The progress command gives the same sort of useful information as pvbut it works with a specific set of Linux commands. Typing progress in a terminal window and pressing Enter will give you a list of the commands that progress works with.

There are two techniques we can use to monitor commands with progress. The first is to use pipes.Welcome to LinuxQuestions. You are currently viewing LQ as a guest.

Below, ESPN's Mike Clay and Phil Steele offer their overall assessments of each team's strengths and weaknesses heading into the season, along with best bets.

They let Rex Ryan go and brought in Sean McDermott, who had been the defensive coordinator with Carolina and Philadelphia. They have their fourth offensive coordinator in four years: Rick Dennison, who comes over from Denver. The defense switches from a 3-4 to a 4-3. Buffalo was middle of the road in the NFL for yardage on offense and defense, ranking No.

They were not far from a winning record last year at 7-9 with four net close losses, but their seven wins came versus six teams with a losing record and a New England team down to its third-string quarterback. In the past four years, the Bills are dead even at 31-31-2 ATS.

Super Bowl LII odds: The Bills are 20-1 to win the division, 100-1 to win the AFC and 200-1 to win the Super Bowl. Those are big odds, but I have no interest in any of them. While Carolina, Cincinnati, New Orleans and the LA Chargers all had losing seasons last year, I think they are all playoff-caliber teams.

The Bills are favored in seven games by the early lines at CG Technology. However, my main three sets of power ratings call for Buffalo to win six games this year, so I will lean with the Under.
